university, moby wrap, baby smiles, and persevere
Bringing Tilda to the University now so that we can each be at work doing research, though for limited hours, helps a lot to get things done. And thanks to the Moby wrap (and my wife) the little one has been sleeping the mornings away pretty well. Though she's sure to get heavy for carrying around in the Moby wrap for hours. No matter, this is a challenge, raising a baby while the both of us are working on our PhD. It is hard. But, when that little girl smiles and mutters noises that sound vaguely like the things you're trying to teach her, or when she falls asleep with her head on your shoulder, or when she stretches in the morning with her little faces, it really helps to lighten the load, and really then we're just a couple of PhD students with a lot of work to do on little sleep and how is that any different from other PhD students? We persevere.

Oh the cuddling up with their head on your shoulder--truly one of the best things about parenthood!
ReplyDeletetrue. as my wife says, at some point she falls asleep up there on your shoulder and you can feel her weight settle on to you...it feels like a big happy sigh and thank you and i love you
