why have a baby if she sleeps all night?, alarm clocks, and summer funding

What is the point in having a baby if she doesn't wake you up every 2 hours in the middle of the night?  Tilda has been not only skipping her 2am feeding/diaper change (although not every-every night), but she has also pushed back her 4am feeding to 5-5:30ish.  What the...?  People always say -oh my goodness they grow up so quick etc..blahblahblah- but what happened to those hectic days of getting up every two hours and changing diapers without even opening my eyes?  What am I supposed to do with that skill I developed?  I think I actually miss it (though she is a breast-fed baby and her mom likely has a different take on it all).  But, there was so much excitement and franticness.  We didn't even have to set alarm clocks the first couple months of Tilda's life, she was our alarm clock.  There was no danger of sleeping late.  Now I have to set my alarm clock, which I had to re-learn how to do because I got a new alarm clock a month before Tilda and wasn't that familiar with it by the time she arrived.

On other notes, the semester's end is weeks away.  And we're both writing new papers that will hopefully be completed by early to mid summer.  I'm on a research assistantship for the summer as I was for this spring.  My wife though has hopes of getting a teaching assistantship for the summer.  I suppose like most people these days, future funding is tentative at best.
