change diapers quicker

Yesterday was a real hard day for Tilda.  Her two week pediatrician appointment, which apparently is accompanied by yet another little prick in her heel, to draw blood for some more testing.  Whether it was really related to or just accompanied the trauma of the day, I can not be too sure, but yesterday I was pooped on twice, and peed on, all while changing her diaper.  I dally too much I think when cleaning her up and preparing her for the next diaper, and I guess the cool air just gets things moving.  I had her little legs up cleaning as we do, and a fountain of poo came shooting towards me (i should note i never actually got poo on me, but it was headed in my direction).  Graduate school does not prepare you for this.  What can really prepare a person for a fountain of poo?  I think I need to change the diapers a little quicker in the future to avoid this.

  1. Poop happens! I learned quickly that you have to put a dry diaper under before you take the old one off. That way you have a "trap" for any flying debris. It's not a matter of quickness but a matter of technique. My DD is almost to potty training age and I'm still altering my technique as she has taken to wiggling off the table. But the unexpected surprises mid change do tend to go away.

Thanks for following me on Twitter! I like your site so far! Can't wait to read more!
