oil heading for new orleans...needs a giant cloth diaper

First Katrina and now the oil leak is heading for New Orleans.  The drilling platform that exploded in the Gulf of Mexico and then sank was at a well that is now releasing oil into the Gulf and the oil s is heading for New Orleans (http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/imagegallery/image_feature_1649.html).  The amount of oil is apparently a far cry from Valdez but tell that to the shrimp.  It still makes those ships look tiny (http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/IOTD/view.php?id=43768).  Why were the deaths of the crew on that drilling platform not as media-ized as the death of the West Virginia coal miners?

They're going to need a giant cloth diaper for this job.
